Answer: I am personally conservative with Saccharomyces boulardii (SB), only because I have had some patients react to it negatively and never seen it work fantastic – http://www.nbnus.net/shopexd.asp?id=111. Perhaps, this has made me a bit gun shy in using it consistently. Therefore, it is not a big part of my protocols. That’s not to say some people don’t get benefit so I think it is worthwhile. It does have some anti-clostridia effects too. It needs to be dosed away from pharmaceutical antifungals and likely botanicals too. I feel it is one of those supplements where some people may become over-sensitive to it with continuous prolonged use.
For Clostridia I will use 2 to 4 capsules nightly (90 to 120 minutes away from remedies) for 6 to 8 weeks and thereafter 2 to 4 weeks “on” and 2 weeks “off.”
For Candida, the dosing is much the same thing. I am less apt to cycle on and off, but instead just use a lower dose through a product like ProBiotic Support Formula which contains a small amount of SB – http://www.nbnus.net/shopexd.asp?id=230.
